I am Canadian born to Portuguese parents, I now live in Lisbon permanently. I am a street photographer and I have a website here www.derricksoaresphotography.com

I take affinity to the mundane things people see everyday and show that there is beauty everywhere. One simply has to shift his or her perception; the simplest things can be appreciated from a different perspective. I want to remind my viewers to always try and admire the little things and to not fall into a loop as we so often do.

I try and capture moments in time that are beautiful and that make you think. I want to evoke emotion and thought. The heart and the mind. A feeling or a memory. Ultimately both.

My technique is to use stealth and to be quick on the shutter button in order to capture frames of life in all their glory and kookiness. These are my photographs in various genres: cityscapes and skylines, candid street shooting, experimental portraits, fashion and architecture.
